Should I have a Facebook Page for my business?
Facebook, beleive it or not, is still a bit taboo in the eyes of some of our customers. Perhaps it has a stigma of childishness lingering, or maybe people pick up on bad press where Facebook has been used to organise crime – maybe? But if you’re wondering, as many businesses do “Should I have a Facebook Page for my Business?”, the answer in short is “HELL YES! YOU’D BE CRAZY NOT TO!”. And here’s why…
First of all lets have a look at the scope of Facebook. Facebook has over 150 Million active users in over 200 countries in the world. Thats pretty big. Facebook is one of the only websites that is regularly visited daily by its users and for many Facebook is used as an alternative to Google as their internet home page.
Asking the question “Should I have a Facebook Page for my business?” is a bit like saying “Should I let people know that my business exists?”. Of course you should…and here’s more…
Take our own Facebook Page for example www.facebook.com/pumpkinweb - Right now we have 108 “likes” – 108 people who have chosen to connect with us, and whom will receive notifications via their Facebook news feed every time we post a comment, offer or news to our Facebook Business Page.
Now get this…between our 108 Fans, they in turn have a total of 28,971 friends of their own. Pretty BIG! And the best part of this is that every time one of our fans chooses to “like” one of our comments, offers or news items, there’s potential for a massive 28,971 people to know about it. So, if you’re a traditional business that beleives in word of mouth and referral type business, you’d agree that youd be hard pushed to find a more efficient and effective referral scheme than that. Imagine 28,971 people knowing that someone they knew personally recommends and endorses your business.
And even better than all of this – a Facebook Business Page will allow you, the business owner to monitor how many people are engaging with your Facebook Page, who’s talking about it and so much more via the Facebook Insights. A Facebook Business Page will also allow you to monitor virality (whether your recent post is causing a stir throughout the Facebook community).
Setting up a Facebook Business Page takes just a few minutes, and with the new Facebook Page layout you can add your own brand to it, and provide your customers or prospects with a platform on which to interact, make suggestions and leave valuable feedback.
