What should a Domain Name cost?

domains What should a Domain Name cost?

We love the way that our customer call us just for a bit of advice – each time they get yet another cold caller on the phone offering something that sounds too good to be true (and probably is) – or trying to charge the earth for something that they really shouldnt.

Todays example of this was from one of our relatively new clients in the landscaping industry, who had just received a call from a salesman offering to sell him a website URL (or domain name) for £150 + VAT!

To be fair, the website domain was a good, search engine friendly one, reflecting a good volume of searches for what our client does in the area in which he does it – but that doesnt detract from the fact that the URL was available on the open market, and costs about £5 + VAT to register it for 2 years.

Take a look above for a rough price guide for website URL’s – find a great one that reflect the way that people search online for your product or services and it could be the best investment you’ve made in a while.

If you have any questions about domain registration, hosting, website design or SEO – we’re here – give us a bell at the office…
